She Walks in Beauty
By Lord Byron (George Gordon)

She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes;
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o’er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express,
How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

And on that cheek, and o’er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!

On Beauty
By Kahlil Gibran

And a poet said, Speak to us of Beauty.
     And he answered:
Where shall you seek beauty, and how
shall you find her unless she herself be your
way and your guide?
And how shall you speak of her except
she be the weaver of your speech?

The aggrieved and the injured say,
“Beauty is kind and gentle.
Like a young mother half-shy of her
own glory she walks among us.”
And the passionate say, “Nay, beauty is
a thing of might and dread.
Like the tempest she shakes the earth
beneath us and the sky above us.”

The tired and the weary say, “Beauty is
of soft whisperings. She speaks in our spirit.
Her voice yields to our silences like a faint
light that quivers in fear of the shadow.”
But the restless say, “We have heard her
shouting among the mountains,
And with her cries came the sound of
hoofs, and the beating of wings and
the roaring of lions.”

At night the watchmen of the city say,
“Beauty shall rise with the dawn from the
east.”
And at noontide the toilers and the way-
farers say, “We have seen her leaning over
the earth from the windows of the sunset.”

In winter say the snow-bound, “She shall
come with the spring leaping upon the hills.”
And in the summer heat the reapers say,
“We have seen her dancing with the autumn
leaves, and we saw a drift of snow in her
hair.”
All these things have you said of beauty,
Yet in truth you spoke not of her but of
needs unsatisfied,
And beauty is not a need but an ecstasy.
It is not a mouth thirsting nor an empty
hand stretched forth,
But rather a heart enflamed and a soul en-
chanted.
It is not the image you would see nor the
song you would hear,
But rather an image you see though you
close your eyes and a song you hear though
you shut your ears.
It is not the sap within the furrowed bark,
nor a wing attached to a claw,
But rather a garden for ever in bloom and
a flock of angels for ever in flight.

People of Orphalese, beauty is life when
life unveils her holy face.
But you are life and you are the veil.
Beauty is eternity gazing at itself in a mir-
ror.
But you are eternity and you are the mir-
ror.

Beauty's Silent Song

Beauty walks where morning wakes,
Upon the dew the sunlight takes.
She paints the sky with golden fire,
And fills the heart with soft desire.

She lives within the blooming rose,
The gentle breeze that lightly blows.
She sparkles in the ocean's gleam,
And dances through a poet's dream.

Beauty is not a face alone,
Nor jewels bright, nor a royal throne.
She shines through kindness, pure and true,
In every loving thing we do.

She rests within a mother's care,
A faithful friend who's always there.
She sings in laughter, warm and free,
And whispers through eternity.

Though years may pass and flowers fade,
True beauty never is betrayed.
For time cannot erase the light
That glows within a soul so bright.

So seek her not in mirrors clear,
But in the hearts that hold her dear.
For beauty's greatest gift will be
The love that lives eternally.

Flawless Beauty

A woman so amazing,
Perfect in every way,
With such a beautiful smile,
That can lighten up any man’s day.
She’s the ideal image of beauty,
With eyes the color of the sea,
That’ll make you drown in an instant,
In such degree.
If you think that’s all,
Then wait until you hear this,
A woman with such beautiful lips,
That’ll have you begging for a kiss.
With skin so vibrant yet so soft,
That’ll tempt you to touch,
And the addiction involved with this woman,
Will be just as much.
Don’t treat her like any other woman,
Treat her like a woman you’ll love truly,
Because a woman like her,
Is a woman of flawless beauty.

Beauty
Ariana Reines

Je suis belle, ô mortels! comme un rêve de pierre
           (Baudelaire)

These poisoned sensations have to be
Accepted if they’re to be
Overcome. Looking
Up calories on my phone

Not that I’m counting
Don’t even like numbers
It’s something vestigial
It comes in bad minutes

To teach my body something's in control
Something little & unholy, wrong idea
Of information, chiseling a transparent minute
Into myself with the afterimage of a form

If I did this kind of thing
On the bigger machine it’d be
Worse. Worse
Things than this are bombing

The world. A terrible
Fate is coming to power tomorrow. I’m reading
The early poems of Sherman Alexie. Desolation
Of secular life. I remember the luxury of speculating

All mystical traditions grew up
In the souls of a disciplined few
Turned in on themselves while under
Occupation by tyrants. That was then. This

Morning I could see one comfort: to become rock
Hard. Could imagine one comfort:
To have become rock. I had no
Imagination. I had his. I had theirs. “Formalism

& grammar are ways to be thin...” masochism
Merely thought of, the idea of a calorie
Most boring way to feel womanly doing itself to me
This morning I was panicking, burning, I was desperate

Scanning the body of my bedfellow
Its beautiful cheeks & chin
& long smooth abdomen
My silence growing fat like an old fruit

Still making me sick
It makes me sick I longed
For the wrong thing
I longed for death. I dreamed of stone

Her Beauty

A radiant and luminous flower in a garden of love,
She is a breathtaking sight.
In a garden full of wonders,
Her beauty blossoms like no other,
Like a star in the night sky,
She shines with grace and serenity,
Turning every moment into a legend.
The leaves around her kiss her feet,
And the wind whispers softly, joyfully,
As if it, too, is captivated by her beauty.
But beyond her external beauty,
There lies an indescribable depth.
She knows how to heal every pain,
A heart so big, so embracing, so loving.
She is endlessly wise,
Her voice soft,
Seeing deeply through every silence.
And when she looks at me with love,
Every sorrow turns to solace.
She holds everything I lack,
In her completeness, she fills my heart.

*Your Beauty*

Your beauty is like an exquisite flower
Growing ontop of the highest mountain
Peaking at the very height of its power

 Your Beauty is like Art
To where all may see in awe
 Entering my heart
You have not a single flaw

Your beauty flows like a river
Following the way of the stream
 Glowing slightest glimmer
Only seen in our dreams

Your beauty shines bright
 From whom we cannot wait
 Glistening in the moon light
 Meeting you was considered fate

Your beauty makes us speechless
 Unable to say a word
When we are with you, we are sleepless
While we try to talk, it comes out slurred

Your beauty cannot be described
 Words couldn't touch the surface
 This love I feel inside
Never can I stop being nervous

You are gorgeous in every single way
Loving you will be my duty
 Unable to be kept away
This... is... the... power... of... Your Beauty
