Your Catfish Friend
Richard Brautigan
If I were to live my life
in catfish forms
in scaffolds of skin and whiskers
at the bottom of a pond
and you were to come by
one evening
when the moon was shining
down into my dark home
and stand there at the edge
of my affection
and think, “It’s beautiful
here by this pond. I wish
somebody loved me,”
I’d love you and be your catfish
friend and drive such lonely
thoughts from your mind
and suddenly you would be
at peace,
and ask yourself, “I wonder
if there are any catfish
in this pond? It seems like
a perfect place for them.”
A Friend Like You
In the quiet corners of my life,
Where memories softly bloom,
There stands a friend beside my heart,
Dispelling every gloom.
Not bound by blood or family name,
Nor tied by fate alone,
But woven through a thousand days
In ways that have been shown.
A friend is like the morning sun
That warms the earth anew,
A gentle light that never fades,
Steady, kind, and true.
When storms arrive with thunder loud
And skies are dark with fear,
A friend becomes a sheltering tree,
A voice that whispers, "I'm here."
Through childhood dreams and grown-up years,
Through laughter, tears, and change,
The strongest friendships often prove
That distance feels less strange.
We've shared the roads of hope and doubt,
The victories and falls,
The whispered plans at midnight hours,
The echoes in old halls.
A friend remembers who you are
When you forget yourself,
And sees the treasure in your soul
Beyond all worldly wealth.
They celebrate your brightest days
Without a trace of pride,
And stand beside your broken heart
When joy has stepped aside.
No diamond shines as beautifully,
No gold can quite compare
To the priceless gift of loyal hearts
And someone who will care.
Friendship is a garden grown
With patience, trust, and grace,
Each memory a blooming flower,
Each smile a cherished place.
It asks for neither fame nor praise,
No fortune, crown, or throne;
It simply thrives on honesty
And kindness freely shown.
There may be days when paths divide,
When miles stretch far and wide,
Yet true friendship knows no boundaries,
For love remains the guide.
The years may paint our hair with silver,
The seasons come and go,
But treasured friends become the roots
From which our spirits grow.
And when I look upon my life
And all that I hold dear,
The faces of my faithful friends
Are always shining near.
So here's a tribute from my heart
To friendships old and new,
For life becomes a richer song
Because of friends like you.
May every bond be strong and bright,
May every friendship stay,
A beacon through the darkest night,
A light along the way.
For among the gifts this world can give,
Through every joy and strife,
There is no treasure quite as rare
As friendship in a life.
On Friendship
Kahlil Gibran
And a youth said, Speak to us of Friendship.
And he answered, saying:
Your friend is your needs answered.
He is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving.
And he is your board and your fireside.
For you come to him with your hunger, and you seek him for peace.
When your friend speaks his mind you fear not the “nay” in your own mind, nor do you withhold the “ay.”
And when he is silent your heart ceases not to listen to his heart;
For without words, in friendship, all thoughts, all desires, all expectations are born and shared, with joy that is unacclaimed.
When you part from your friend, you grieve not;
For that which you love most in him may be clearer in his absence, as the mountain to the climber is clearer from the plain.
And let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit.
For love that seeks aught but the disclosure of its own mystery is not love but a net cast forth: and only the unprofitable is caught.
And let your best be for your friend.
If he must know the ebb of your tide, let him know its flood also.
For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill?
Seek him always with hours to live.
For it is his to fill your need but not your emptiness.
And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures.
For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.
Friends For Life
Angelica N. Brissett
We are friends.
I've got your back,
And you have mine.
I'll help you out
Anytime!
To see you hurt,
To see you cry,
Makes me weep
And wanna die.
If you agree
To never fight,
It wouldn't matter
Who's wrong or right.
If a broken heart
Needs a mend,
I'll be right there
Till the end.
If your cheeks are wet
From drops of tears,
Don't worry,
Let go of your fears.
Hand in hand
Love is sent.
We'll be friends
Till the end!
Forever Friends
– By Amber S. Pence
“The friendship we have is so rare to find.
We hate to see each other in a bind.
We have made each other laugh so hard we’ve cried
We feel each other’s pain if we are hurt inside.
We always can find the right words to say.
To help us get through any dreadful day.
We have told our secrets with no shame.
We tell each other the truth, even if we are to blame.
Thinking of you not being here makes me feel so sad.
We will have to look back on our crazy memories to make us glad.
he miles between us can’t keep us apart,
Because we will keep each other close at heart.”
True Friends
– By Ashley Campbell
“A friend is like a star that twinkles and glows
Or maybe like a ocean that gently flows
A friend is like gold that you should treasure
And take care of forever and ever
A friend is like an angle that is there to guide you
A friend is someone you can trust out of a few
A friend is more than one in a million
They are one in ca-zillion
And you, my friend, are very special
and so it is official.”
' True Friendship '...!!!
I often think of YOU..? Though I seldom let YOU know,
But now it seems to be a chance to tell YOU so.......
And then I 'd like to wish YOU…EVERY HAPPINESS TODAY
And say my thoughts of YOU.....Are always nice in every way.....
"Our FRIENDSHIP should be like a TREE,
WE EACH MUST FIND A PLACE TO GROW, AND BRANCH OUT,
WITH THE PRINCIPLE OF " LOVING, SHARING, CARING "...
Friendship is like a stars, that guides the way NEAR & FAR
WE give many gifts to others, But this ONE...We GIVE OURSELVES....
That's very very precious that no store has ON IT'S SHELVES.
IT'S a beautiful gift of OUR FRIENDSHIP, OF RICH AND HAPPY MEMORIES.

Friends
I keep my circle small,
True friends are hard to find,
People tend to come and go,
Not leaving much behind.
But the ones that I hold true,
Have been the kindred souls,
Walking here beside me,
Whilst achieving their own goals.
In laughter and in silence,
Through trials we have grown,
Each moment shared together,
Turns strangers into home.
A bond that's built on trust,
With memories that we weave,
In this tight-knit little world,
Kindness is given and received.
So here's to the loyal hearts,
That walk together through life's days,
You are appreciated and loved,
True friendship always stays ...
